Women in technology — the opportunities abound…

The original co-founders of Women 2.0 — Shaherose Charania and Shivani Sopory — had the opportunity to write for a Women in Technology series organized by Tatiana Apandi of O’Reilly. The article discusses insights provided by panelists who spoke during the Women 2.0 Silicon Valley launch event.

Lots of good advice and tips offered but what struck me as most interesting is this: as women in technology, we should view the low numbers of women in tech startups as an opportunity to have direct input into the development of these businesses. Ottawa inagural event a great success!

Thanks to all who joined Women 2.0 Ottawa for our inaugural networking event this Wednesday! In addition to some great conversation and casual networking, participants had a chance to discuss the goals of the chapter and suggest potential events for the coming year.

We’ve taken your suggestions into account and will aim to hold one networking event per month. These will take the form of casual get-togethers for dinner, drinks or just coffee.
